Common questions
How much does hard drive data recovery cost?
Diagnosis is free. The cost of recovery depends on what has failed, so we never quote blind: after diagnosis you receive a written Evaluation Report stating the exact price, and you decide whether to go ahead. Single mechanical hard drives are covered by No Data – No Fee.
How long does recovery take?
Standard service is 5–20 working days, Priority is 2–5 working days, and our Emergency service turns business-critical recoveries around in 24–48 hours from arrival at the laboratory.
My drive is clicking or beeping — what should I do?
Power it off and don't keep retrying it. Every power-on risks further damage to the platter surfaces where your data is stored. Arrange a free diagnosis and our engineers will examine the drive safely in cleanroom conditions.
Is my data safe with you?
Yes. Data Clinic is registered with the ICO, your data is handled confidentially at our UK laboratory, recovered files are returned to you on new media, and your original drive is returned or securely destroyed — whichever you prefer.
About Data Clinic Ltd
Data Clinic Ltd is a UK data recovery laboratory established in 2002. All recovery work is carried out by our engineers at our laboratory at The Pavilions, Bridge Hall Lane, Bury, Manchester BL9 7NX, with appointment-based drop-off locations across the UK and free DPD collection from any UK address. We provide data recovery services to businesses, public sector organisations and private individuals, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Our work is entirely physical and hands-on: engineers open the drive itself in cleanroom conditions to recover the data it holds from the failed mechanical or electronic components. We do not provide remote computer access, software troubleshooting, virus removal, or password/account recovery services.
Transparency notes: diagnosis is free and carries no obligation. If you choose not to proceed after receiving your Evaluation Report, return of your drive is £20 + VAT (or we can securely destroy it free of charge). No Data – No Fee applies to single mechanical hard drives.
