Western Digital ‘Slow Response’ Fault

This is a well known problem that affects all current models of Western Digital hard drive. Data Clinic successfully recover the data from all models of WD hard drive with this problem.

Hard Drive Models Affected: WD10xxxx, WD20xxxx, WD30xxxx, WD40xxxx, WD50xxxx
(where ‘xxxx’ = 4 alphabetic characters)
For example: WD10JMVW, WD10EARS, WD20NMVW, WD20EACS, WD30NMVW, WD40EFRX, WD50OOYS etc.

Symptoms: External hard drives will begin to run slowly, slowing down the whole computer when they are attached. Additionally affected hard drives may not show up in Window’s Device Manager or Apple’s Disk Utility

Cause: These hard drives have an internal active monitoring system that automatically allocates bad sectors to a growing list. When this list grows to a sufficiently large size it causes the whole hard drive to slow down considerably and sometimes fail to be recognised. File and folder access become very slow and sometimes not possible.

Data Recovery: Using specialist tools we are able to access the hard drive’s firmware and clear the problem. We are then able to image the hard drive using advanced error correction techniques to read ‘through’ the bad sectors.

Success Rate: Very high.
