Network Monitoring and
Forensic Network Investigation Services
Network forensics, a sub-branch of digital forensics relates
to the monitoring and analysis of computer network traffic for the purposes
of information gathering, legal evidence or intrusion detection. Unlike
other areas of digital forensics, network investigations deal with volatile
and dynamic information. Network traffic is transmitted and then lost,
so network forensics is often a pro-active investigation.
Network forensics generally has two uses -
- The first, relating to security, involves monitoring a network for
anomalous traffic and identifying intrusions. An attacker might be
able to erase all log files on a compromised host; network-based evidence
might therefore be the only evidence available for forensic analysis.
- The second form of Network forensics relates to law enforcement.
In this case analysis of captured network traffic can include tasks
such as reassembling transferred files, searching for keywords and
parsing human communication such as emails or chat sessions.
Data Clinic's network monitoring service is a bespoke
and tailored solution designed around your network. Network data is
captured through a variety of mechanisms, including agents installed
on infrastructure, sniffers and real user monitoring. It allows the
secure and transparent capture of data travelling to and from networked
devices such as servers, PC's, Mac's and mobile devices (eg. phones)
etc. This data is then securely stored and can be interrogated as required

Solutions for Business Networks, University Networks etc
|
Our network monitoring solution for Business networks
and Student networks involves a hardware storage device that
sits centrally on your network. This device is entirely transparent
and captures all the traffic that passes across your network.
This traffic can then be monitored by you / us, either onsite
or remotely.
Your network will be unique in terms on topolgy,
devices attached, distribution and organisation etc. Our network
monitoring service includes
- An onsite network consultation and fact find - We will vist
you, get an overview of you network and your requirements
- Suggest a tailored solution to fit your circumstances and
requirements
- Install and configure the solution on your network
- Support, monitor and report the network activity across
your network and take action where necessary

Solutions for Home Networks / Small Office Home Office
(SOHO)
|
The amount of data on a Home or
SOHO network is often much smaller than larger Business or Student
networks. Therefore it is not necessary to install any specific
hardware on your network, rather a machine that is already in
the network is chosen and acts as the capture device. This machine
will also contain the software that you can use to interrogate
the captured data yourself. |
